Guide to Safe and Responsible Use of the Internet for Adult Education Trainers 

The guide is divided into 3 main sections:

1. Introduction:

It will contain information about the project and the background and challenges that the project’s target groups are currently facing in the partner countries.

2. Internet Safety:

It will contain relevant information on diverse areas: Digital literacy, online communication, digital identity and footprints and privacy and security.This section also aims to offer a series of recommendations to help adult education trainers to reflect and better understand the emerging online risks for seniors and, thus, favor the educational task in responsible habits for the proper use of the Internet among them.

3. Practical Activities:

This section will contain dynamics and practical activities for trainers to use with seniors to promote digital safety. Each activity will present visual content and step by step instructions to facilitate the learning process and increase the motivation of the learners.

The expected results of this activity are:

  • Trainers will be offered a comprehensive yet balanced approach in addressing safety and security concerns and skills as well as including ethics and behavior issues.
  • Trainers will be provided with seniors-centered, dynamic content and resources that emphasize skill building, critical thinking, ethical discussion, media creation, and decision making of seniors.
  • Trainers will be provided with additional resources and links and suggestions for learning opportunities.
  • Trainers will have developed greater awareness of cybersecurity as well as the knowledge necessary to transmit it to seniors.
